Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods in a Level 2 NICU/NB Nursery setting. Ensure patient safety, manage fetal and maternal needs, and collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver quality obstetric and neonatal care.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and monitor medications, including oxytocin and epidural anesthesia, ensuring adherence to protocols.
• Circulate during cesarean sections and assist with various Labor & Delivery procedures.
• Assess and respond to fetal and maternal conditions using monitors and clinical observation.
• Support patients emotionally and educate them about labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
• Maintain all documentation accurately in the electronic medical record system.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid Kentucky or Compact State RN license upon submission.
• Have at least 2 years of recent RN experience in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit.
• Hold current certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN.
• Demonstrate strong clinical skills in obstetric procedures, including IV insertion, lab draws, and sterile vaginal exams.
• Exhibit excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
• Be able to work every other weekend and adapt to on-call requirements.
