Cash Applications Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cash Applications Specialist to join our finance team. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely application of payments to customer accounts. This role requires strong attention to detail, an understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately apply incoming customer payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, credit cards) to customer accounts in the ERP system (JD Edwards, Oracle, NetSuite) in accordance with company policies.
• Perform daily cash reconciliations to ensure all payments are correctly recorded, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Review customer accounts for unapplied payments, credit memos, and adjustments, ensuring accounts are properly maintained and updated.
• Generate and review payment reports for management, highlighting any outstanding or problematic transactions that require attention.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Accounts Receivable, Sales, Customer Service) and external customers to resolve payment issues, address discrepancies, and provide excellent customer service.
• Monitor and apply credit memos or adjustments as needed to customer accounts, ensuring proper documentation is in place.
• Ensure data integrity and assist with the maintenance and update of customer profiles and payment terms in the ERP system.
• Identify opportunities to streamline the cash application process and contribute to the overall efficiency of the Accounts Receivable team.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, or similar finance-related roles.
• Strong knowledge of cash application processes and accounting principles.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues quickly.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with customers and internal teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience.
