Residential Solar Site Surveyor - Field Data & Conditions

At Terra Energy, we’re building more than solar projects—we’re building a scalable, efficient operation that allows us to deploy residential solar systems across the U.S. with precision and speed. As we continue to grow, accurate site data has become critical to our success. Every installation depends on having the right measurements, the right conditions, and the right information from the start. That’s why we’re creating this role. This isn’t just about visiting sites—it’s about building the foundation for every successful installation. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our design, permitting, and installation teams have everything they need to execute projects correctly the first time. If you enjoy working in the field, being detail-oriented, and playing a critical role in how projects come to life, this role is for you. The Role This is a field-based, high-impact role at the intersection of operations, design, and customer experience. You’ll be responsible for conducting on-site surveys for residential solar installations, gathering accurate measurements, assessing site conditions, and documenting everything needed for system design and project planning. You’ll act as the eyes and ears of the operation on-site—ensuring that what gets designed can actually be built efficiently and safely. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working independently in the field while maintaining strong communication with internal teams. What You’ll Be Doing Conducting Site Surveys You’ll perform on-site assessments for residential and commercial solar projects, collecting all necessary data to support design and installation. Measuring and Evaluating Site Conditions You’ll measure roof dimensions, pitch, azimuth, shading, and structural conditions to ensure accurate system planning. Assessing Electrical Infrastructure You’ll review electrical panels, meter locations, and interconnection points to confirm system compatibility. Capturing Site Documentation You’ll take detailed photos, notes, and drone imagery (if certified) to provide complete visibility to internal teams. Identifying Installation Challenges You’ll proactively detect potential issues such as roof damage, obstructions, shading, or access limitations. Data Entry and System Updates You’ll input accurate survey data into company software and CRM tools to keep projects moving forward. Cross-Team Coordination You’ll work closely with sales, design, permitting, and installation teams to ensure alignment. Maintaining Equipment and Standards You’ll ensure all tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained and that surveys follow safety and company protocols. Customer Interaction You’ll represent the company professionally during site visits, providing a positive customer experience. What We’re Looking For You’re someone who pays attention to the details—because in this role, details matter. You’re comfortable working outdoors, managing your own schedule, and using both physical tools and digital systems to get the job done right. Have experience in solar, construction, roofing, surveying, or a related field Understand basic residential electrical systems and roof structures Are comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights Are proficient with smartphones, tablets, and mobile apps Have strong organizational and documentation skills Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Are able to travel locally on a daily basis Have OSHA 10, drone certification, or similar credentials (a plus) Important to Know This is a field-based role with daily travel to project sites Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions Physical activity is a core part of the job (climbing, lifting, walking roofs) Accuracy and attention to detail directly impact project success How You’ll Work at Terra Energy We’re a fast-growing company, and not everything is fully built yet—that’s exactly where the opportunity is. You’ll have ownership over your work, autonomy in the field, and direct impact on how efficiently projects move from sale to installation. We value people who are proactive, detail-oriented, and focused on outcomes—people who take pride in getting things right the first time. Salary: $50,000 per year Location: United States (Field-Based) Reports to: Operations / Survey Manager Department: Operations What Success Looks Like Accurate, complete site surveys with minimal need for rework Clear, well-documented data that supports smooth system design and installation Early identification of potential installation challenges Strong coordination with internal teams across the project lifecycle Efficient completion of daily/weekly site survey targets Positive, professional interactions with customers Consistent adherence to safety and quality standards In Summary This role is for someone who enjoys working in the field, not just sitting behind a desk. If you take pride in accuracy, enjoy hands-on work, and want to play a critical role in how solar projects come to life—this is that kind of opportunity.
