As directed by senior leadership, this role may also support multi‑site compliance reviews, environmental due diligence assessments, and portfolio‑level compliance projects. You Will: Prepare, review, and submit environmental reports, permit applications, notifications, and compliance documentation on schedule, including submittals through CERS, SMARTS, and other regulatory portals; maintain compliance calendars covering hazardous waste, air quality, wastewater, stormwater, Tier II, California Accidental Release Prevention Program (CalARP), and the CA Hazardous Waste Source Reduction and Management Review Act (CA SB‑14). Support preparation, renewal, and modification of environmental permits; assist in responding to regulatory agency inquiries, NOVs, and information requests; support corrective action tracking and closure. Coordinate day‑to‑day activities with hazardous waste disposal vendors, including pickup scheduling, shipment tracking, and documentation; monitor vendor performance and elevate compliance concerns or relationship issues to senior leadership. Support waste characterization, source reduction initiatives, and preparation of California SB‑14 Source Reduction Plans and Performance Reports in coordination with the Senior Manager. Maintain and update the facility’s Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) via CERS, including accurate chemical inventory reporting, SDS management, and Proposition 65 occupational warning compliance; support CalARP program applicability evaluations and documentation as needed. Support air permit compliance with the local AQMD, including tracking permit conditions, maintaining emissions records and equipment inventories, and coordinating stack testing and monitoring with outside testing firms; assist with CARB refrigerant management program (RMP) registration, leak detection recordkeeping, and reporting as appropriate. Assist with CARB LSI fleet emissions compliance and support planning related to the Zero Emission Forklift Regulation. Support industrial wastewater discharge permit compliance, including coordinating sampling, monitoring, and reporting to local sewer authorities (POTWs); evaluate applicability of federal categorical pretreatment standards. Implement and maintain the facility Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) under California’s Industrial General Permit (IGP); conduct routine stormwater inspections, coordinate sampling with environmental laboratories, manage chain of custody and data review, and support annual SMARTS reporting and NEC evaluations. Support regulatory inspections and agency visits by DTSC, CUPAs, AQMDs, regional water boards, and local sewer authorities by coordinating walkthroughs, assembling documentation, and facilitating on‑site logistics; handle routine day‑to‑day regulatory correspondence and elevate substantive agency interactions to senior leadership. Support third‑party audits and internal compliance assessments; track and close Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) from audits, inspections, and incidents; maintain inspection‑ready records at all times. Maintain spill prevention and response programs, support incident investigations and root cause analysis, ensure timely regulatory notifications, and support emergency preparedness planning and drills. Support waste reduction, recycling, and pollution prevention initiatives; track environmental performance metrics and contribute to continuous improvement efforts aligned with company sustainability goals. Support development and delivery of environmental compliance training (hazardous waste, HMBP, stormwater, wastewater, air, Prop 65, spill prevention); maintain training records and communicate regulatory updates to operations and manufacturing personnel. Ensure all environmental training for onsite employees is current and documented. You Have: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Chemistry, and at least 5 years of hands‑on environmental compliance experience. Strong working knowledge of RCRA/DTSC, air quality, industrial wastewater, stormwater, and California‑specific programs including CalARP, SB‑14, CARB, and the California Unified Program; demonstrated familiarity with CERS, DTSC, CUPAs, AQMDs, regional water boards, and local sewer authorities. Ability to independently manage multiple programs and regulatory obligations with minimal day‑to‑day supervision; strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with regulatory inspectors, vendors, operations teams, site employees, and senior site leadership. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) strongly preferred; Qualified SWPPP Developer/Practitioner (QSD/QSP), CESCO, or OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER also valued.
