Since its 2017 public launch, Amazon Connect has become an AI leader, transforming how organizations of all types interact with their customers.The Connect Telecom Engineering team is responsible for provisioning and maintaining connectivity to global telecom carriers, managing the backend telecom infrastructure, and troubleshooting customer issues related to telephony. Our team owns the Session Border Controller (SBC) service used to route calls between Amazon Connect and telecom carriers, ensuring reliable delivery of voice services and telecommunications systems that connect millions of customer interactions worldwide.We have a rapidly growing customer base and an exciting charter that includes solving highly complex engineering and algorithmic problems in the telephony domain. We are looking for a passionate and talented Software Development Engineer to join us to innovate on the telecom infrastructure that powers Amazon Connect's voice capabilities. You will play a crucial role in developing next-generation telecom systems, and get the opportunity to design and deliver scalable, resilient systems while maintaining a constant customer focus.Key job responsibilitiesAs a developer on our team, you'll own code end-to-end from design to development, and work closely with technical leaders within the team and across AWS. You'll have a sound understanding of computer science fundamentals and practical industry experience, working across the stack with technologies involving SIP/VoIP, modern web services, SOA, NoSQL databases, and distributed systems at scale.A day in the life1. Evaluate design decisions that make telecom systems secure, scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available with low latency.2. Implement software solutions for carrier connectivity, call routing, and telecom infrastructure automation.3. Improve the operational excellence of the services the team owns, including the SBC platform and carrier management systems.4. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
