It comprises a 122-bed acute care facility. The team provides exceptional care in various medical and surgical services. Job Summary: Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care. Be responsible for meeting established Standards of Nursing Practice. Promote cooperation among the health care team. Job Requirements: Graduate of a school of nursing is required. One year of recent acute care RN experience is required. Current RN license in state of practice is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor is required. Essential Functions: Assure patients' personal needs are met. Assist in reducing noise level on the nursing unit. Show a commitment to colleagues. Work as a team to assure all patients have their needs met. Maintain patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy. Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and legible. Deliver a clear and concise report. Complete all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager. Follow infection control guidelines. Obtain history/physical assessment according to unit-specific nursing protocol for all age groups. Review medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data. Identify abnormal diagnostic data and report it to the appropriate person. Provide information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner and to the appropriate personnel. Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending emergencies. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to effectively function in emergency situations. Accurately administer and chart medications according to hospital policies and procedures, adhering to patients' rights. Implement and/or assist others in the implementation and documentation of planned education. Assess patients' educational needs. Assist in the development and education of new staff members. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Complete education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills. Successfully adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow. Ensure all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilize department resources appropriately. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
