Job Description
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for our nursing unit focused on providing high-quality patient care. This position is ideal for individuals with strong clinical skills who thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Job Overview

  • Unit Type: Medical Surgical Float Pool
  • Shift Length: 12 hours
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Shift Details: 7 AM to 7 PM, every other weekend
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Orientation: 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
Responsibilities
  • Float between various medical/surgical units, including Med/Onc, surgical, and medical units.
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, with a focus on total care without the assistance of Patient Care Assistants.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient conditions, including performing occasional strip readings.
  • Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
  • Participate in a transition to Electronic Health Records (EPIC) by November 2026.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant Medical/Surgical nursing experience in a large hospital setting.
  • Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA is required.
  • Skills: Strong clinical skills in managing diverse surgical and medical patients, including those with conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, COPD, renal, and gastrointestinal issues.
  • Special Notes: No first-time travelers. RN's are not required to titrate drips, and respiratory support is readily available.
Additional Information
  • Weekend and holiday requirements apply as stated.
  • Self-scheduling is not available; staff will be assigned to various areas based on needs.
  • All personnel are required to float to any medical/surgical pod as needed.
  • Navy scrubs are required; scrubs are not provided by the unit.
