Eddy Hawthorne Ridge is a 66-bed assisted living community on 14 beautiful acres in East Greenbush, New York.If you're passionate about caring for others and want to be part of a dedicated, caring team, we'd love to meet you!Position Summary: The Resident Assistant, or RA, is a caregiver providing assistance to residents under the supervision of the LPN and/or RN. Resident Assistants provide compassionate care that is respectful of each resident's needs, values and wishes.Job Specific CompetenciesPrincipal Responsibilities:Core Competencies:Supports the Trinity/SPHP Vision, Mission, Values in all encounters with residents and familiesAdheres to the SPHP Code of ConductDemonstrates accountability as an individual and team member in meeting basic resident and family needsClinical Competencies:Resident Assistants provide the following nursing services under the supervision and direction of an LPN or RN across the continuum of care at SPHP.Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility in a respectful, compassionate manner.Assist residents in taking medications as needed.Encourage and support resident independence and dignity.Monitor resident safety and well-being, reporting any change to the LPN. Consult with the LPN/RN on any changes of health statuses of residents.Build meaningful relationships with residents, understanding their personal histories, preferences and routines and anticipate the needs of residents.Help with light housekeeping and meal service as needed to maintain a safe and clean-living space.Participate in team meetings and communicate/collaborate with coworkers and supervisors.Promote a warm, friendly, and respectful environment.Education Requirements:Must possess patience, empathy and a genuine desire to help othersHigh school diploma or GED preferred.Previous experience in senior care, health care or assisted living preferred, but not requiredMust be able to:Ability to follow care plan and safety protocolsWorking knowledge of computers including electronic health record, checking email, and preforming required in-servicing, along with use of other required applicationsHave the physical, visual and auditory ability adequate to perform resident careMaintain composure and positivity in a high stress environmentPromote physical, cognitive, and psychosocial well-being of each residentWork with residents in a highly personal manner during stages of acute and chronic illnessPay Range: $16.70 - $20.36 per hourPay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
