Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health Services (BHS)

Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Behavioral Health Services team within a community-based hospital setting. This role is ideal for an RN who is passionate about supporting individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges in a close-knit, patient-centered environment. The RN will play a key role in delivering high-quality care, supporting crisis stabilization, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote patient safety, recovery, and overall well‑being. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to patients with behavioral health and/or substance use disorders Conduct comprehensive assessments, including mental status exams and risk evaluations Administer medications and monitor therapeutic responses, including psychotropic medications Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with providers and care teams Monitor patient behavior and provide timely interventions, including de‑escalation techniques Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff Accurately document patient care and progress in EMR systems Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other clinical staff Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and coping strategies Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and patient safety standards Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (New Hampshire or compact state) Minimum 1+ years of nursing experience (behavioral health or psychiatric experience preferred) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to respond effectively in crisis situations Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment Preferred Qualifications Experience in inpatient behavioral health, psychiatric units, or emergency department settings Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or similar de‑escalation training Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar) BSN preferred Key Skills & Competencies Crisis management and de‑escalation Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking Compassionate, patient-centered care approach Effective communication and teamwork Adaptability in a dynamic clinical environment Work Environment Community-based behavioral health setting Close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams Exposure to varying levels of patient acuity Shift-based schedule, including nights and weekends Why This Opportunity Meaningful work in a community-focused healthcare environment Strong team culture with a collaborative approach to patient care Opportunity to make a direct impact on patient outcomes Supportive leadership and opportunities for professional growth #J-18808-Ljbffr
