Insurance Manager

Position Overview The Manager, Insurance will be responsible for overseeing the captive insurance program and will serve as the subject‑matter expert for the program at Invenergy. Responsibilities Support the Vice President of Insurance with all aspects of the captive insurance requirements for an energy portfolio. Collaborate with brokers, reinsurers, and tax/legal counsel to develop and evaluate insurance products, policy terms and conditions, and coverage for outbound/ceded reinsurance. Assist in the development of business plans and pro forma financial statements. Maintain financial and operational records. Provide regulatory, risk‑management, underwriting expertise, and administrative support for captive management. Coordinate new placements and renewal efforts with brokers, consultants, insurers, and the internal insurance team. Oversee timely and efficient management of insurance and reinsurance documentation. Manage premium billing and collateral requirements. Provide claims support. Communicate with state regulators regarding changes to the insurance program/business plan. Support preparation and participation in board meetings. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, or a related major. Five or more years of experience in the insurance or risk‑management industry. Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Skills Experience with power and/or natural gas projects. Strong industry experience and insurance‑industry designations such as CPCU or ARM. Experience establishing and operating captive insurance companies or cells. Commercial insurance experience, including property, casualty, forced outage, capacity payments, parametric, tax, and representations and warranties insurance. Additional insurance or risk‑management designations. Proficiency in Spanish or Japanese is a strong asset. Track record of working reliably under tight timelines, training junior team members, and designing and implementing process improvements. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and effectively in a team setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills across email, video conferencing, phone, and in‑person communications. Base Pay: $120,000.00 – $139,000.00 USD annual. Annual Bonus: 25% – 40% (subject to performance). Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and other standard benefits.
