Retail Sales Associate – Weekends a Priority

The Nut House is looking for a friendly, dependable Retail Sales Associate to join our small team! We’re a busy Route 66 specialty shop, and our first priority is finding someone with good weekend availability , although additional weekday hours are also available.

If you prefer a small-business environment over a big corporate retail store, this may be a great fit. We’re a small team, everyone pitches in, and no two days are exactly alike. One day you might be helping travelers choose Oklahoma gifts, the next you’re building a display, stocking candy, weighing pecans, packing an order, or lending a hand during the lunch rush. There’s always something to do!

This is primarily a retail and customer-service position , with occasional help in our deli and food-service areas when needed.

A typical shift may include:

• Greeting customers and helping them find products
• Running the register and handling transactions
• Stocking, pricing, and putting away merchandise
• Straightening shelves and keeping the sales floor clean and organized
• Creating and maintaining attractive displays
• Learning our products and making recommendations
• Weighing and packaging products
• Filling and checking customer orders
• Helping with basic inventory tasks

During busy periods, you may also lend a hand to our kitchen/deli team by taking food orders, carrying completed orders to customers, packaging food items, restocking supplies, or helping with other basic food-service tasks. This is not primarily a cooking position.

• Friendly and welcoming. You should be comfortable talking with customers and providing helpful, cheerful service.
• Dependable. Because we're a small team, showing up when scheduled and being someone your coworkers can count on really matters.
• Self-motivated. You should be able to see what needs doing and stay productive without constant direction.
• Flexible and willing to pitch in. Small-business retail means everyone helps where they're needed.
• Comfortable with normal retail work. This includes standing, walking, bending, reaching, stocking, cleaning, organizing, and lifting merchandise.
• Comfortable with basic everyday math and measurements. You'll regularly weigh and portion products, read digital scales, work with pounds and ounces, count inventory, and verify quantities. You should be comfortable with decimals and understand, for example, that 0.35 lb. is not 35 ounces.
• Comfortable using computers and basic technology. You don't need to be a computer expert, but you should be able to learn our point-of-sale, inventory, and potentially shipping systems; navigate websites; enter information accurately; and use basic computer equipment without difficulty.
• Detail-oriented. Filling orders, weighing products, labeling packages, pricing merchandise, and checking quantities all require accuracy.
• Available on weekends. Weekend availability is our biggest scheduling need right now , so applicants who can reliably work Saturdays and/or Sundays will receive priority consideration.

Retail, customer-service, or food-service experience is helpful, but we're happy to train the right person with a good attitude and a strong work ethic. Our regular store hours are 9 AM–5 PM Monday–Saturday and 11 AM–5 PM Sunday. We are closed on major holidays— no late nights and no midnight holiday retail shifts.
