Position Summary The role of an electrician at the Seattle Convention Center (SCC) is to diagnose, install, repair, and maintain the electrical equipment and computerized lighting systems as dictated by the events and the needs of the center. This individual will apply their knowledge to troubleshoot electrical systems, diagnose malfunctioning equipment, read, and follow blueprints, and use a variety of hand tools and testing and measurement instruments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Run conduit and pull wire for new and/or existing electrical installations, as well as modify and/or rewire existing electrical installations Install lighting fixtures or power outlets, as dictated by the needs of an event and SCC's own usage Replace fuses, change lamps in fluorescent, Halogen, CFL, induction, mercury vapor, LED, and incandescent lighting fixtures Read, interpret, and work with blueprints, departmental policies and procedures, equipment maintenance manuals and city electrical codes Effectively use SCC scissor lifts and articulating boom lifts Learn and control multiple computerized lighting systems. Able to recognize system improvements and work with the Foreperson and Director of Facilities to implement Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment to detect and correct faulty components or parts. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and repair. Answer emergency calls for the repair of a variety of mechanical equipment and building systems, may make emergency repairs along with other trades within facility Accurately and factually report, verbally and in writing, events as they occur to the appropriate SCC personnel and in the appropriate logs and/or complete forms/reports. Maintain required reports, records, and logs. Effectively use a two-way radio and maintain current knowledge of appropriate use of the radio, as well as all SCC radio codes and the related FCC regulations. Effectively use the multi-line telephone system Maintain a thorough understanding of all performing duties and respond to multiple and sometimes pressure situations in an efficient, calm manner, using sound judgment, in all situations Properly perform all project assignments directed by management in accordance with the Quality Service Program to ensure successful compliance with the company’s standards, procedures, and established programs Perform miscellaneous related duties as directed by the Director of Facilities Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud at times. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of experience in the electrical trade at a journey-level electrician status Must be a journey-level Electrician and possess current Washington State driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience operating computerized/remote lighting control systems like Lutron, Lightolier, or Douglas *Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
