Safety Manager

Meyer Contracting is a multifaceted operation that includes: General Contracting, Earthwork, Underground Utilities, Demolition and Foundations operations. Currently, we are looking for a highly organized, dynamic, and energetic Safety Manager to join our team of Industry Professionals. Primary Job Responsibilities: Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT). Advises Safety Team on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions. Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Conducts accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management. Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs. Conduct site specific safety orientation. Maintains safety files and records. Assists, plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively Build professional relationships Team Oriented Coaching/Teaching skills Qualifications/Requirements: Education in Safety and Health preferred Working knowledge of government and other regulations. (i.e. Army Corps of Engineers) Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills. Detailed and organized Excellent computer, communication and training skills. Overnight travel will be required 30-50% during the construction season. Must have an acceptable driver's license and be able to pass a background check. OSHA10, OSHA30, and OSHA 500 (preferred) Safety experience in heavy civil construction, with a working knowledge of safety/environmental principles and technique preferred. This position offers a salary range of $75,000 - $150,000 based on experience.
