Winder Operator – 2nd Shift Job Description Operates Wire Winder. Essential Functions Set up and operate bobbin winders according to manufacturing specifications, following detailed instructions accurately String wire through bobbin winders, adjust counter to necessary footage, fill up oil container as needed Record the necessary data on WW2 for labeling Place finished bobbins on wire table, make wire bobbins according to inventory on wire table Keep all bobbin machines operate continuously Pull material from warehouse as needed Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion, follow 5S practices Know and practice all safety regulations and quality guidelines Report production issues to direct lead Perform work on an equal or lower classification Detect and report problem areas or unusual conditions to the Value Stream Team Lead Perform related and other duties assigned by the Value Stream Team Lead Department Specific / Non‑Essential Functions Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner Participate in peer‑based teams and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S Other duties may be assigned at a later time Minimum Requirements Education required: High School diploma or GED Experience: Production work preferred but not required. On the job training from 1 to 8 weeks, or extend to 10 weeks if needed. Preferred Skills / Qualifications Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills Basic knowledge and use of hand tools Sound decision‑making skills Good math, reading, writing skills Demonstrated mechanical aptitude Strong troubleshooting skills Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention Ability to work well in a team environment Skills / Competencies Basic computer skills Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail Physical Requirements Various manual tasks such as lifting up to 20 lbs, bending, twisting, reaching, and operating in a standing or walking position for extended periods. Assessment Employee must pass pre‑employment screening. Organizational Relationships / Scope Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment Working Conditions High noise levels from operating machines and equipment Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection) Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime Legal Statements The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
