Job Description - Registered Nurse (RN), ICU (SAD007503) Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Location: Saddleback Medical Center Department: Intensive Care Unit Shift: Night (1900 - 0730) Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The RN is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients within the Intensive Care Unit in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Responsibilities include directing unlicensed employee activity, synthesizing patient information, assessment, planning of care, teaching patients/family, implementing treatment plans, and evaluating care rendered. The RN must effectively communicate and document data relevant to patient care, integrate knowledge of age, cultural diversity, and psychosocial and/or spiritual needs, and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and desired outcomes. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Utilizes the nursing process and practice standards as a framework for patient care management. Analyzes assessment data to determine a nursing diagnosis and appropriate interventions. Demonstrates effective critical thinking skills and leadership in coordinating patient care across the healthcare continuum. Delegates to licensed and unlicensed personnel. Uses the clinical information system for patient documentation. Forms and evaluates a teaching plan based on patient learning needs, including family participation as necessary. Serves as a role model and mentor for new staff members. Integrates job‑specific competencies and develops professional growth plans, including peer review. Identifies subtle and obvious patient problems and reports them to appropriate resources, considering the multidisciplinary team and chain of command. Addresses needs of all populations served: adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Contributes to an effective and safe working environment. Demonstrates tact, sensitivity, and discretion to maintain good relations. Arrives on time, follows company policies, procedures, and directives. Interacts positively and constructively, prioritizing and multitasking. Qualifications Word processing and order entry experience preferred. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Card (BCLS) required. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Card (ACLS) required. Current NIHSS Certificate required. BSN preferred. Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: $44.48/hr - $69.74/hr. Sign‑on bonus eligible: $20,000 for external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfying employment requirements. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Health insurance and benefits available for employees and dependents.
