Direct Support Professional – Waiver/PT 2nd Shift / EOW 7a‑7p (Regular) Join RHA Health Services as a Direct Support Professional and help people with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and mental health or substance use challenges achieve their goals and live their best lives. This entry‑level role offers a rewarding experience in a supportive care team setting. Overview Provide supportive services to individuals and groups in the community, assisting them with goal identification, communication, and implementation of their Centered Plan. Act as an advocate, cheerleader, teacher, and partner in daily activities, shopping, and community outings. Position Requirements High School Diploma or GED (Preferred in TN) At least 18 years of age Valid driver’s license Conflict resolution skills Decision‑making ability Strong communication skills Reliable attendance Confidentiality at all times Some computer skills preferred Ability to assist with personal care and independent living skills Responsibilities Promote healthy living and prevent illness and accidents. Encourage self‑advocacy and support decision‑making. Accompany individuals to work, events, and community outings. Teach independent living skills and provide transportation to appointments. Foster positive relationships within the community. Assist with personal care, bathing, and household chores. Document care provided and maintain accurate records. Provide education on human, legal, and civil rights. Use effective advocacy strategies for diverse challenges. Connect individuals with resources for career, education, and volunteer opportunities. Assist with medication administration where state law permits. Protect confidentiality at all times. Pre‑Employment Screening Complete criminal background checks (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities). Drug testing. Education verification and other credentialing as required. Proof of employment history or references (if required).
