Mortgage Loan Originator

We connect great people to great opportunities and are looking for a Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. The role involves originating residential first‑mortgage loans for outside referrals, managing the entire loan process from application to closing, and ensuring compliance with the bank’s risk and regulatory policies. Responsibilities Develop referral contacts (realtors, builders, and other industry professionals). Maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company policies and procedures. Stay current on available loan products, processing procedures, underwriting guidelines, and general departmental guidelines. Follow the defined escalation protocol for exceptions. Process applicant applications by completing Fannie Mae Form 1003 on the laptop and conducting loan prospecting activities. Collect required documentation from each applicant and deliver loan packages within management‑specified time frames. Manage the loan pipeline through closing and prepare required management reports. Communicate regularly with branches and applicants to provide timely updates and progress reports. Provide high levels of customer service while managing expectations for both applicants and support staff. Attend and participate in all Consumer Lending meetings as required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (mandatory); four‑year college degree preferred. Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines. Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures. Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending. Demonstrated organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills. Proven computer skills. Basic sales technique skills. Strong desire to excel in a competitive environment. This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
