The OpportunityWe are looking for an experienced and dynamic Director of Food & Beverage to lead the overall food and beverage operation at Sound View Greenport.
This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence, developing a strong and engaged team, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and maximizing the financial performance of our F&B outlets.
The ideal candidate is a confident hospitality leader who can balance people, operations, guest experience, and financial results . You should be equally comfortable leading a team during a busy dinner service, working alongside the culinary team on menu and service execution, reviewing financial performance, developing training programs, and creating systems that make the operation stronger and more consistent.
We are looking for someone who understands contemporary luxury/lifestyle hospitality standards and can bring energy, accountability, organization, and genuine hospitality to the team.
What You'll Do- Provide overall leadership and direction for all Food & Beverage operations at Sound View Greenport.
- Lead and develop F&B managers and hourly team members, creating a culture of teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and excellence.
- Be highly visible and actively engaged in daily operations, particularly during peak service periods.
- Ensure consistently exceptional service and guest experiences across all F&B outlets.
- Oversee The Halyard, seasonal beach and pool outlets, special events, and other F&B experiences.
- Establish and maintain operational standards, procedures, and systems that promote consistency and efficiency.
- Lead daily pre-shift meetings and ensure teams are informed, prepared, and motivated.
- Partner closely with the Executive Chef on menus, service execution, specials, events, and overall restaurant strategy.
- Develop and implement effective training programs covering service standards, wine, beer, liquor, and product knowledge.
- Address guest concerns and service issues quickly, professionally, and effectively.
- Monitor staffing levels, scheduling, labor costs, and operational needs.
- Oversee ordering, inventory, cost controls, and proper use of resources.
- Develop strategies to maximize revenue and profitability across F&B outlets.
- Manage the F&B budget and regularly review financial performance against goals.
- Analyze sales, labor, beverage, food cost, and other key performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention of F&B team members.
- Coordinate and oversee special events to ensure seamless execution.
- Collaborate with hotel leadership and other department heads to create a cohesive guest experience.
- Serve as a brand ambassador for Sound View in the local community and hospitality industry.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, sanitation requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain the property’s aesthetic and contemporary luxury/lifestyle standards throughout all F&B operations.
- 3+ years of hospitality experience , with significant experience in a management or leadership position.
- Previous experience leading a restaurant, hotel F&B department, or multi-outlet hospitality operation.
- Strong knowledge of food, wine, beer, and spirits.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a diverse hospitality team.
- Strong financial and operational understanding, including labor, food cost, beverage cost, budgeting, and profitability.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented leadership style.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and engaged in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong guest recovery and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of POS and F&B technology; experience with systems such as Aloha, Toast, or BevSpot is a plus.
- ServSafe, RBS, and TIPS certifications preferred, or willingness to obtain.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during peak operational periods.
