Outpatient Clinician

Services are available to community members living on and off-reservation across the State of Maine.

Position Summary:

The Outpatient Behavioral Health Therapist provides individual, family, and/or group therapy to clients experiencing mental health, emotional and co-occurring substance use challenges. This role involves assessment, treatment planning, evidence-based interventions, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in an outpatient setting. This will be a part-time position (10-16 hours a week) and will be based in Millinocket at the healing lodge.


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and ongoing annual assessments
• Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy using evidence-based practices.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment as clinically indicated.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, primary care providers, case managers, and other team members.
• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals when necessary.
• Educate clients and families on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and resources.
• Adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and organizational policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
• Active or license-eligible status (e.g., LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, or equivalent)
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care)
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Independent licensure -but may consider conditional license.
• 10 years plus experience in an outpatient behavioral health or community mental health setting.
• Experience working with Native Americans and diverse populations.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs).
• Familiarity with HIN, Acentra.

• Ability to have a flexible work schedule - This position may include daytime/evening hours.
• 60/40 Billing Requirements.
• Summer Family Therapy Sessions 1 day a week mid-June through September.
• Must have a valid Maine license as well as access to reliable transportation.
• Must pass criminal background check.
