Step into a rewarding role supporting students with diverse abilities in a vibrant, modern elementary setting near Fort Hood, TX. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a significant impact in a self-contained Alternate Learning/Life Skills classroom for K-5 students who require specialized academic and functional supports.

You’ll work with a small caseload of 10 students, supported by two dedicated paraprofessionals. The classroom serves children with intellectual disabilities, Autism, traumatic brain injuries, and medically complex needs, providing an environment where every learner’s potential is nurtured.

Qualifications:

• Active Texas Special Education Certification required
• EC-6 Certification required
• Experience with significant academic and functional needs preferred
• Commitment to collaborative and student-centered practices

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with best practices and district-provided curricula
• Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of abilities and needs
• Employ evidence-based strategies to foster academic and functional independence
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and support staff to maximize student achievement
• Maintain ongoing, open communication with families and team members
• Document progress and adapt supports as needed for each student

The position runs from ASAP through May 27, 2027. Your schedule will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch).
