Telecommunications Engineer

Federal Telecommunications Engineer (RCDD)In this role, you will perform the following:Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplinesCreate conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications, and design analysis deliverablesCoordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing productionPerform quality control duties and independent technical reviewsManage assigned budgets, scopes, and schedulesMentor and provide guidance/instruction to less experienced staff membersOther potential duties:May perform fieldwork and write assessment reportsMay assist with the creation of design guides and templatesMay provide support to business development or pursuit activitiesThe *** Special Projects Corp. has its mission to provide a full range of services to our primary client base - U.S. Government agencies and departments. Our primary areas of focus are: Architecture/Engineering (A/E) Services, Defense Program, Design/Build, Classified, and Environmental.As part of this role, you will be assigned to projects supporting U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. The following are preferred qualifications:Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes, and best practices related to the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), low voltage, and telecommunications systemsStrong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspectiveStrong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure to include telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivityExperience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systemsExperience in audio-visual (AV) system design4 years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systemsAll applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (required)Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D) certification (preferred)
