Sr. Resident Engineer

The OpportunityRS&H is seeking an Experienced Resident Engineer to join our growing Transportation-Construction Management (T-CM) team in the Chicago, IL area.This position will work outside on active construction sites. As part of the construction management team, you'll serve as an owner's representative, leading Phase III construction engineering, inspection and contract administration on large-scale transportation projects for clients such as IDOT, the Illinois Tollway and regional transit agencies.Essential Functions:Serve as Resident Engineer and owner's representative for inspection and contract administration on large-scale transportation projects.Manage consultant contracts, including accounts receivable, subconsultant management and client interface.Direct Phase III construction engineering administration and inspection programs.Review and draft project correspondence, claims, change orders and time extension requests.Verify construction activities for compliance with contract documents, plans and specifications.Plan and organize the work of others, including inspection staff, documentation staff and subconsultants.Oversee documentation of contract quantities, progress pay estimates and final estimates.Coordinate with utility companies, local agencies, client representatives and contractors to keep projects on schedule.Participate in the marketing and development of new opportunities and contract pursuits.Develop or review policies, methods, practices and procedures.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program10+ years of relevant transportation construction experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseResident Engineer or Phase III experience on IDOT and/or Illinois Tollway projectsExperience with construction of major roads or bridge structuresProven ability to handle challenging or sensitive issues in a professional, business-minded mannerStrong verbal and written communication skillsValid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle safely on highways and job sitesProficiency in Microsoft Office SuitePassion for working outdoors and ability to tolerate field conditionsAbility to build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationshipsPreferred Qualifications:Transit or rail construction experience with agencies such as METRA or CTAIDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certificationFamiliarity with highway design and work zone traffic control plansExperience with alternative delivery methods such as Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build or CMGCOSHA 10-Hour CertificationBenefits:Paid Vacation, Personal Time Off, and Holiday Pay401(k) with Company Match100% Employee Owned Company!Medical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceCertification and Licensure SupportCareer Advancement OpportunitiesPet InsuranceCellphone StipendCompany VehicleAnd much more!If this sounds like the role for you and you're ready to join an amazing team, please apply.The anticipated salary range for this position is ($125,000- $155,000) annually.
