Portuguese Medical Interpreter- Per Diem page is loaded## Portuguese Medical Interpreter- Per Diemlocations: Mount Auburn Hospitaltime type: Part timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: JR70838**When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.**MEDICAL INTERPRETER - PER DIEM Please note that this is an in-person position.**Job Description:**Medical interpreting between clinician and patient during face-to-face or telephone encounters.Acts as a liaison between patients and staff.Informs clinicians about cultural considerations when treating Portuguese speaking patients.Interpreter for ancillary departments.Interpreters between non-clinical staff and patients as needed.Translates into Portuguese patient information materials, consent forms, etc.Edits translated materials.Identifies areas where hospital can better meet needs of Portuguese speaking communities, i.e.., outreach, signage, etc.Explains interpreter model to clinicians and patients.Assists with training staff interpreters.Orients patients to hospital as needed, i.e., L & D tours, community events, etc.Other duties as needed.Assists in the coordination/scheduling of free-lance interpreters.Assists with data entry/data collection .Completes interpreter paperwork.Assists as needed scheduling and confirming patient appointmentsSupports patients outside of their clinical appointments as needed with issues relating to their care at the hospital.Contributes towards developing an environment that is welcoming and responsive to Portuguese speaking patients.**Qualifications:**Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree or experience.Excellent rating on Interpreter Assessment Evaluation.Bi-lingual (oral and written) bi-cultural skills.Medical interpreting skills, including accuracy and memory.Basic anatomy and physiology vocabulary in English and Portuguese.Experience working as an interpreter in a clinical environment.Ability to work well as a team with clinicians and patients.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.**Working Conditions:**Normal office environmentOutpatient clinical environment with some exposure to infectious diseases and cleaning solutions.Adherence to safety procedures minimizes the risk of injury.Normal office environment for administrative duties.**Pay Range:**$25.04 - $37.56The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
