Bring your customer service experience to a $27.50-per-hour weekday role serving Taylor and eastern Williamson County. This opportunity is especially well suited to bank tellers, patient-registration and medical-office staff, city, county, or school-office employees, utility customer-service representatives, dealership personnel, and retail leads from Taylor, Hutto, Coupland, Thrall, Granger, and nearby communities who are ready to turn their public-facing experience into a public-service career.

You will need calm judgment, precise document handling, and the ability to explain firm requirements respectfully, including when a customer is frustrated or must return with additional paperwork. You will receive structured, paid training and build experience inside a Texas state public-service environment with a strong record of Peak Performers employees moving into permanent state careers.

Who you will be working with

You will work in a regional public-service office serving Taylor and surrounding communities. The team handles the full customer process, from document review and testing through payment and issuance. The environment is professional and structured, and it rewards people who can balance neighborly service with consistent application of state rules.

Major Duties

•  Engages with the public in a professional and courteous manner and explains driver-license requirements, traffic laws, safety regulations, and related topics.

•  Screens applicants, reviews supporting documents, administers required tests, processes applications, and follows applicable policies and statutes.

•  Communicates with internal and external stakeholders to review and approve license applications.

•  Enters application data, payments, and technical details accurately into computer systems.

•  Advises applicants about suspensions, cancellations, and qualifications for reinstatement.

•  Uses computer systems and imaging equipment to capture applicant information and photographs.

•  Inspects vehicles for safety before road tests, checks registration and compliance, and explains road-test procedures.

•  Rides with applicants to administer road tests and evaluates driving performance and physical capability as required.

•  Conducts required examinations, makes pass or fail determinations, and recommends corrective actions for driver improvement.

•  Meets established accuracy, quality, and daily processing expectations.

What are we looking for

•  Two years of customer-service experience in an onsite, customer-facing environment.

•  Graduation from a two-year college is preferred.

•  Relevant experience and education may substitute for one another.

•  A valid Texas-issued driver license and clean driving record are required because employees administer road tests in applicant vehicles.

•  Ability to learn and apply detailed laws, policies, procedures, and document requirements.

•  Ability to remain professional when customers are frustrated, disagree with a decision, or must return with additional documentation.

•  Ability to work onsite, maintain daily productivity standards, and complete a highly regimented training program.

•  Willingness to wear an agency-issued body camera throughout the workday as part of the required uniform.

About the Opportunity

•  Rate: $27.50/hr.

•  Engagement: Approximately 6 months, temporary to hire.

•  Days and hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

•  Location: Taylor, TX 76574 (central Taylor near West Fifth Street)

•  Conversion to permanent state employment is not guaranteed and depends on successful performance, completion of all required hiring steps, and the agency's staffing needs.

•  Employees who later convert to permanent state employment may become eligible for state benefits under the state's applicable plans and rules.
