Surgery - Vascular Physician Assistant

Advanced Practice Provider - Vascular Surgery - Piedmont Augusta Piedmont Heart Institute is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join the team at our Piedmont Augusta Hospital. This position will support the In-patient Vascular Service and includes both inpatient rounding and first assisting in the OR. Some occasional crossover may be required in the clinic setting. Piedmont Heart Institute provides the full line of cardiovascular services with dedicated electrophysiology, transplant, advanced heart failure, critical care, interventional, surgical and research services. Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: Ambulatory care responsibilities include, but are not limited to: a. Assesses patient and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribes necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. b. Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients. c. Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patient's family, and staff. d. Monitors progress of patients, reports progress to supervising physician, and maintains record of each patient's progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria. e. This autonomous Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for Vascular inpatient, as well as Clinic coverage, and will assist in the OR as needed. Piedmont Benefits include: Comprehensive compensation and benefits package Well-designed training program offered CME allowance Quality, Service and Reputation Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: PA: Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board or NP: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing Preferred Requirements: Strongly prefer candidates with previous vascular, cardiovascular or general surgery experience.
