Staff Auditor - Home Mortgage Citizens is looking for a motivated, hardworking individual to join our Internal Audit team as a Staff Auditor. We are a team of more than 100 professionals charged with providing the Board, Audit Committee, Shareholders, and Executive Management with an independent and objective view of the bank’s control environment, risk management practices, and culture. Description As a Staff Auditor, you will deliver a defined aspect of audit engagement through operational delivery of audit work under close supervision across Citizens’ various business lines, in line with methodology, standards, and procedures. You will be responsible for executing audits to ensure that bank policies, processes and procedures are followed, internal controls and safeguards are in place, and controls are adequate, effective, sustainable, and efficient. You will perform risk-based audits in the bank’s Home Mortgage business, covering origination, underwriting, processing, closing, servicing, and support functions. Primary Responsibilities Participate in the planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up of audits. Review and document business processes to ensure that controls are in place, effective, sustainable, and in compliance with bank standards and regulatory requirements. Perform testing to confirm control effectiveness, document work in Internal Audit’s system of record, and verbally communicate results to Internal Audit and bank management. Validate that management’s corrective action to resolve Internal Audit-raised issues is effective. Develop and use analytical skills to evaluate data, look for patterns, trends, and exceptions, and build effective methods of testing controls. Participate in other audit activities with team members, including evaluating the control environment of a business unit through innovative methods. Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials 1-5 years of work experience, preferably in mortgage lending, audit, first line risk, and/or quality assurance/quality control function Ability to work in a team environment, and independently when required Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to follow a structured methodology Ability to multi-task Experience using and analyzing data Strong time management skills Experience with MS Office applications including Word and Excel Bachelor’s degree required Intermediate understanding of bank regulations and industry practices is a plus Travel 5 – 15% Hours & Work Schedule Hours per Week: 40 (4 days in office) Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Pay Transparency The salary range for this position is $73,000 - $97,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including location, skills, and experience.
