Moreover, the incumbent understands, interprets, and complies with research policies and protocols.**CORE JOB FUNCTIONS*** Performs specialized and complex experiments/studies.* Participates in the publication of significant research results.* Advances expertise through education, training, and research.* Writes extramural grants/proposals to gain support when appropriate.* Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.* Weighs and anesthetizes laboratory animals for experiments.* Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.* Performs calculations to complete research test results.* Performs photography and dark room processing.* Participates in training sessions and workshops.* Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.***This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.*****CORE QUALIFICATIONS****Education:**Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field**Certification and Licensing:**Not Applicable**Experience:**Minimum 2 years of relevant experience**Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:*** Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.* Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.* Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.**Department Specifics*** Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data, maintaining databases, etc...* Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.* Participates in the publication of significant results.* Advances expertise through continued education, training and/or research.* Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.* Attends training as departmental funds come available.* Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
