Poult Tech - Harrisonburg, VA.

• Assists in unloading boxes of poults onto the Gender Tech Wheel;
• Clips the poult’s talons;
• Performs Dew-claw treatment;
• Performs De-snoot treatment;
• Checks the customers’ orders to see what medication is requested for the poults;
• Injects the poults with medication using the PSP machines;
• Separates the toms and the hens, placing them in the correct box;
• Move boxes of poults after servicing in preparation for shipment;
• Rotates between positions;
• Performs some sanitation duties to ensure a safe and clean environment.

• To follow all of the company’s for bio security, animal welfare and safety.
• To work as a team to achieve the company’s goals;

• To be organized to ensure the tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner;

• To be flexible and able to work in many different positions while rotating tasks/positions;
• To be knowledgeable about the different types of medicine vaccinations;
• To handle the poults with extreme care to prevent injury; to lift boxes of poults weighing approximately 15 lbs;
• To be exposed to dust, humidity, chemicals, and fumes;
• To be available and willing to work an extended workday or other days as needed.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Prior experience in animal husbandry and welfare preferred.

• Ability to communicate verbally with others; ability to listen; ability to read to perform the duties of the job.  Bilingual Spanish speaking ability desired.

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time, to walk, and to use hands for the entire work shift; ability to be exposed to dust, humidity, chemicals, and fumes.
• Ability to lift 15 lbs and to bend, stoop and squat to complete job duties;

• Ability to work successfully in a team environment. 
• Willing and able to work an extended work shift and other days as needed.
