Chief Radiation Therapist

PeerSource is currently recruiting for a Chief Radiation Therapist on a Direct Hire (or Contract-to-Hire ) basis. This role is based out of Boulder, CO.

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Chief Radiation Therapist to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy radiation oncology department while supporting high-quality patient care delivery. This role provides leadership to radiation therapy staff, ensures efficient clinical operations, and partners closely with physicians and clinical teams to maintain treatment accuracy, compliance, and exceptional patient outcomes. The position also maintains hands-on clinical involvement, providing therapist coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and evaluate radiation therapy staff, including scheduling, training, performance management, and ongoing development to support a high-performing clinical team.
• Oversee daily radiation oncology operations, ensuring effective staff coverage, efficient workflows, and adherence to departmental goals and budget expectations.
• Support the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy services, including treatment delivery, CT simulation, dosimetry coordination, brachytherapy, and imaging workflows.
• Participate in quality assurance initiatives to ensure treatment accuracy, patient safety, and compliance with clinical and operational standards.
• Manage radiation-related billing accuracy, charge documentation, and reimbursement workflows while ensuring timely and compliant processing.
• Partner with physicians, physicists, and cross-functional teams to maintain collaboration and continuity of care across the practice.
• Interview, hire, onboard, and mentor radiation therapy staff and students while ensuring licensure, competency, and ongoing training requirements are maintained.
• Provide hands-on clinical support as needed, including radiation therapist coverage, to maintain continuity of patient care and department operations.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience actively practicing as a Radiation Therapist (RTT) and 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a radiation oncology setting.
• Experience overseeing radiation therapy operations, including staff scheduling, workflow coordination, QA participation, billing oversight, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, including treatment delivery, CT simulation, dosimetry workflows, brachytherapy, and diagnostic imaging.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and develop clinical teams while fostering collaboration across physicians, therapists, and support staff.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and operational leadership skills in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program with ARRT certification and a valid state radiation therapy license required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Salary: $130,000 - $190,000
