Opportunity:

RN - Labor and Delivery

Job Details:

• Day shift hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM and night shift hours from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend rotation every 4th weekend
• Holiday rotation every other holiday
• Schedule is created by Lead RN in 6-week cycles, received 2 weeks prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring
• Care for patients 32 weeks and above, majority lower risk
• Common diagnoses include hypertension, magnesium administration, medication management for substance abuse, epidurals, elevated BMI, and diabetes
• Patient ratios: 1:1 laboring, 1:2 active labor, 1:3 couplets
• Skills required include cervical exams, amnio infusions, epidural management, fetal monitoring, IV starts and management, Pitocin administration, baby catching and receiving, APGAR scoring, and basic breastfeeding education
• Must be comfortable with all aspects of postpartum care from transition to discharge for both mother and baby
• Experience with post-women's surgeries preferred
• RN will continue care post-delivery in the same room
• EMR system: EPIC (preferred)
• IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Monitors: QS Centricity
• Scrubs are provided
• Free parking available

Facility:

This medical center is a 131-bed facility designated as a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. The Labor and Delivery unit includes 12 LDRP beds, 2 triage rooms, 2 operating rooms, and a 10-bed Level II NICU, averaging 60 to 80 births per month. The unit is well-supported with 24/7 access to NNPs, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, L&D anesthesia always on call, OBGYNs on call, and a lactation consultant available during the day to meet with every patient before discharge.
