Staff Nurse

The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response. The RN advocates for the care of individuals and families. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and relevant policies. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients. The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse. The RN educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources. The RN utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy. The RN shares in the responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization. The RN complies with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements. The RN actively participates in and supports shared governance models. The RN engages in professional development and completes all mandatory education requirements. The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. The RN provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. The RN performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned. The RN participates in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develop. The RN will perform other duties as assigned. Required skills include collaboration, communication, judgment, critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning, problem-solving, quality, reliability, safety, and risk management. Preferred skills include previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting. Required education is graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Preferred education is a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Preferred certifications include CCRN and relevant skills certifications as required by the assigned unit.
