Your Opportunity

The Senior Security Designer in the Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) market performs basic technical duties under the supervision of Group Leaders or Project Manager. This role involves understanding and identifying project requirements and conducting independent technical work on basic tasks within the discipline, coordinating production with the workgroup, and providing guidance, training, and mentorship to junior consultants. The Senior Security Designer will also coordinate with the Project Manager on duty completion.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to review industry trends and guide discussions to develop client and project‑specific basis of design.
• Develop system designs for Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion Detection, and Intercom systems with minimal supervision; offer solutions to general technical problems.
• Perform site visits for surveys, progress inspections, and final punch lists as required by project timelines.
• Prepare project deliverables per the client’s intent and scope of work in Stantec's proposal.
• Follow Stantec’s quality management process; review project deliverables before submitting them for QA/QC.
• Perform QA/QC reviews for junior team members.
• Actively participate in the engineering/professional community to build personal knowledge and professional growth (e.g., attend meetings, seminars, conferences, or write articles for trade magazines).
• Meet or exceed utilization goals and adhere to project budgets.
• Assist or act as the project manager by giving input, creating plans, and identifying required precursors from other disciplines in a timely fashion.
• Create detailed instructions, delegate tasks, and review returned work as necessary to ensure timely execution of projects within budget.
• Identify and report potential roadblocks and competing client and coworker priorities that may inhibit the ability to maintain scope, schedule, and budget.
• Develop an understanding of Stantec’s accounting and project management systems.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Possess deep understanding of engineering practices within the physical security discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of commonly used and accepted design and construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Be able to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, specifications, procedures, and government regulations.
• Proficient in applicable software (e.g., REVIT, AutoCAD, Bluebeam).
• Demonstrate strong communication skills to confidently interact and coordinate tasks with vendors and inter‑discipline co‑workers.
• Display effective organization and time‑management skills with projects, reports, and other duties; effectively manage multiple priorities and be punctual and dependable.
• Possess knowledge of ASIS standards and best practices.
• Have background experience and knowledge of Mission Critical Facilities.

Education and Experience

• Experience with Security design within Mission Critical Facilities is preferred.
• Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
• ASIS PSP certification is desired.
• Minimum 7–10 years of related industry experience preferred.

Pay Range

• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & various CA, NJ areas – $111,200.00 – $166,900.00 annually.
