Job Title: RN Circulator Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Perioperative Nursing Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Preferred: Previous RN circulator experience License: Current RN license in State of Oregon Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: Associate of Science in Nursing Description: Day 3x12's, call as needed. The Registered Nurse specializes in perioperative nursing practice during intraoperative surgical experiences. Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services. Acts as the patient advocate and supervises any assigned personnel. Will be on call for the Surgery Unit on a regular scheduled rotation. Essential Job Functions: Accept responsibility for the direction and control of activities. Make evaluations and decisions based on measurable or verifiable criteria. Work independently. Implement the plan of care by: Protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and various sources. Performing accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items. Performing necessary interventions to ensure the procedure is performed on the correct site and level. Managing patient specimens according to organizational policy and procedures. Communicating the patient's status throughout the continuum of care. Administering medications safely and correctly. Performing interventions to maintain wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels. Maintaining the status of the patient's systems and balances at or above baseline levels. Performing interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infections. Protecting patient rights, dignity, and privacy. Providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards. Providing consistent care regardless of the setting. Documenting nursing care accurately and completely. Collaborating effectively with other disciplines as applicable. Using problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective relationships. Maintaining required competencies. Pursuing professional growth and participating in a professional organization. Acting as a patient advocate and maintaining confidentiality of health information. Supporting the hospital's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. Participating in required education for applicable programs. Performing other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education Required: Associate of Science in Nursing Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing Licenses/Certifications/Registrations Required: Current RN license in State of Oregon BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification TNCC Preferred: CNOR, Peri-op 101, CRASE training if assignment extends beyond six months. Other Required: Perform a variety of tasks, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency. Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality. Convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, grief, or trauma. Relate to others in a manner that creates teamwork and cooperation. Communicate effectively and therapeutically with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Incorporate service excellence in customer relations in daily activities.
