Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Orthopedic Surgery

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Orthopedic Surgery unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills in orthopedic care and be adaptable to floating between Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units as needed.

Position Details

• Shift: Night shifts (3x12 hours, 18:45 - 07:15)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Floating Required: Yes, based on skill set
• Daily Census: 15-20 patients
• Number of Beds: 30

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to orthopedic surgery patients
• Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the healthcare team
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Conduct assessments and develop patient care plans
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and more
• Complete the required EKG exam

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical/Surgical or Telemetry nursing, with a preference for orthopedic experience
• Certifications:
  
  
  • ACLS (preferred)
  • BLS (required)
  • NIHSS (required)
  • Active TN RN license or multistate licensure
• Skills:
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line blood draws (preferred)
  • PICC line management (preferred)
  • Colostomy/ileostomy management and care (preferred)
  • Feeding tube care and management (preferred)
  • Experience with gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery cases (preferred)

Charting System Experience

Familiarity with EPIC is required. Experience with other charting systems is preferred.

Additional Information

This position requires a strong ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and commitment to patient care. Candidates with teaching hospital and community hospital experience are preferred. Please note that first-time travelers will not be accepted for this role.
