Job Summary:
The ICU Nurse is responsible for providing expert nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role involves continuous patient monitoring, administering medications, performing advanced clinical procedures, and collaborating closely with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse must maintain certifications and licenses required for critical care nursing and demonstrate strong clinical judgment and communication skills. Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU/CCU setting.
- Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status continuously.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Perform advanced clinical procedures including airway management and cardiac monitoring.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Respond promptly to patient emergencies and changes in condition.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
- Occasionally float to cover breaks and assist other units as needed.
- Active Registered Nurse license in California.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- Proof of negative TB screen within 12 months prior to contract start date.
- Minimum of 3 years of ICU or critical care nursing experience preferred.
- Experience working in a community hospital ICU setting.
- Strong interdisciplinary team collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and ICU monitoring equipment.
- Must be able to work night shifts and float occasionally to cover breaks.
- Compliance with hospital policies and procedures including infection control.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- May require travel or relocation within a 20-mile radius of Arcata, CA.
- 36 hours guaranteed per week.
- Night shift schedule.
- Shift assignments may include floating within the unit as needed.
