DESCRIPTION
- General Function - Responsible for the safe, accurate, and appropriate provision of pharmaceutical care, including medication order verification, dispensing, clinical review, medication therapy monitoring, and oversight of pharmacy operations in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
- Educational Requirements : Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy and currently licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a pharmacist by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.
- Experience Requirements : Hospital or health-system pharmacy experience is preferred but not required. Previous pharmacy practice experience that demonstrates sound professional judgment and readiness to transition into the hospital setting is acceptable.
- Must demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the aptitude and willingness to learn hospital pharmacy practice, medication-use systems, sterile compounding, regulatory requirements, and departmental procedures.
JOB RELATED HAZARDS
- Work may involve prolonged standing, walking, repetitive computer use, and occasional lifting or movement of supplies and medication containers.
- Potential exposure to hazardous drugs, including antineoplastic agents, and other pharmaceutical chemicals.
- Potential exposure to infectious patients, bodily fluids, or contaminated materials within the hospital environment.
- Work may involve frequent interruptions, competing priorities, and time-sensitive responsibilities requiring sustained attention and accuracy.
