Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cath Lab Duration: 13 or 26 weeks Shift: Day Rotation Hours per Shift: 9.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years pre/post cath lab experience. License: Current nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Pulmonary artery lines and triage experience. Sheath pull and cardiac medication experience. Pre/post cath lab procedures experience. Charge nurse and conscious sedation experience preferred. Description: The role involves managing outpatient cardiac area nurses. Nurses will check in and prepare cardiac cath patients, electrophysiology (EP) patients, and radiology patients prior to their procedures. Responsibilities include starting IVs and obtaining patient consent. Nurses will administer ordered pre-procedure medications and complete a pre-procedure questionnaire. Post-procedure, nurses will manage access sites, both arterial and venous, via femoral and radial access. Tasks include using radial compression bands, femoral closure devices, venous sutures, and pulling femoral sheaths. Nurses will care for patients post-percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), ensuring they are knowledgeable about discharge instructions and post-cath care. In addition, nurses will handle post-device cases and ablations for electrophysiology patients. They will also manage radiology patients following biopsies and invasive procedures. Some responsibilities may include recovering phase I anesthesia patients after PVI ablations. Familiarity with specific healthcare systems for medication, documentation, and communication is expected.
