Summary This announcement will fill multiple permanent Assistant U.S. Attorney appointments in the Civil Division. The open, continuous announcement closes no later than Sept. 30, 2026. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with the first review no earlier than 10 business days after posting. Resume can not exceed two pages. Duties Assistant U.S. Attorneys will handle both affirmative and defensive civil cases from inception through resolution—settlement, motion practice, or trial. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex with training and experience. Security Requirements Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit, tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable background investigation. Residency Requirements Applicants must reside in the district or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district‑specific information. Selective Service Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must certify that they have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from registration. Conditions of Employment Must be a United States Citizen or National. J.D. degree and active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) required. Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable. Must reside in the district or within 25 miles thereof. Qualifications J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active member in good standing of the bar of a State, Territory, or the District of Columbia. Civil litigation experience, including responsibility for discovery, trial, and appeals; superior writing skills; good judgment; knowledge of civil practice and procedures. Excellent communication and courtroom skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work productively with attorneys, paralegals, support staff, and client agencies. Will be or be willing to become an active member of the Oklahoma State Bar within twelve months of appointment. United States citizenship is required. Salary and Benefits Assistant United States Attorney pay is administratively determined and ranges from $76,748 to $197,100, including 17.06% locality pay. Benefits include paid vacation; sick leave; holidays; telework; life insurance; health benefits; and participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System. Relocation Expenses Relocation expenses will not be authorized. Travel 2 to 3 weeks per year.
