Overview MRI Technologist - Schaumburg- Evenings Position Highlights Full-Time; 40 Hours Hours: Varied; Monday‑Friday 11:30 am–8:00 pm or 12:30 pm–8:00 pm. Rotating weekends 7:30 am–4:00 pm. Responsibilities Performs a variety of complex diagnostic MRI procedures, with the primary responsibility of completing diagnostic studies from inception to completion under the direction of the radiologist. This includes, but is not limited to: performing routine MRIs and MRAs, taking accurate verbal patient histories, starting IVs, and administering IV contrast. Maintains a positive imaging environment for patients and acts as a liaison to the radiologist. Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas Ensures proper MRI safety standards are met Ensures all ferromagnetic materials are located outside the scan room Explains correct emergency shutdown procedures Demonstrates fire and safety evacuations Checks patient transfer/transport equipment for compliance with safety standards Operates required equipment to produce scans using established guidelines and MRI protocols Completes required protololling tasks Performs ordered examinations according to written MRI protocols Properly identifies patients with three unique identifiers Introduces patients using name and role title Explains procedures in layman’s terms using educational aids (books, pamphlets, interpreter, etc.) when necessary Allows time for patient feedback and questions, ensuring all are addressed prior to exam start Verifies completion of MRI screening forms and validates information provided Starts IV access according to standard procedure and injects media under physician direction Selects appropriate IV site and catheter/needle according to exam protocol Prepares patient for procedure using established MRI protocols to achieve highest quality image Generates QA documentation (QR reports) when infiltration or reaction occurs Monitors injection parameters and records IV location and flow rate on correct documents Qualifications Graduate of an accredited education program in MRI required. ARRT Registered Technologist, RT(MR) or ARMRIT Certified Technologist required. BLS – Basic Life Support, AED Adult & Pediatric CPR required. Minimum of one year MRI imaging experience. Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 50–100 lbs. Manipulate MRI coils/table and accessory equipment. Reach equipment at heights greater than 6 ft. Assist in moving patients from stretcher, wheelchair, or bed to and from MRI table. Adequate eyesight to observe patient condition, read MRI computer screen and evaluate image quality. Sufficient hearing to respond to patient inquiries. Communicate with other personnel involved in patient care. Initiate timely response to audible alarms and signals. Ability to perform multi‑tasks simultaneously. Maintain self‑composure and a positive attitude under stress. Compensation The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $32.65–$49.00, with pay determined by skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
