About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Endoscopy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 9 hours (start time between 7-8 AM) Experience: Minimum of 1 year of endoscopy experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: - Comfortable with sedation, including administering propofol - Inpatient hospital endoscopy experience - No first-time travelers Description: The nurse will work in an endoscopy department that features three procedural suites. This unit supports both a main operating room and recovery areas. The average number of cases performed daily ranges from 20 to 30. RNs are expected to float between pre-op, intra-op, and post-op/PACU areas. Only patients under general sedation remain in the PACU. Pediatric experience is preferred, as nurses may be required to work with younger patients. RNs will collaborate with interventional radiology for certain procedures. Common procedures include EGD, colonoscopy, removal of foreign bodies, and stent placements. Scrub experience is advantageous but not mandatory. The unit is staffed with charge nurses for both the pre-op and post-op areas. There are also certified nursing assistants available to assist with rooming and patient care. Nurses administer moderate sedation and work alongside CRNAs for general anesthesia. The work schedule consists of four nine-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Evening call is required one night per week, with a response time of 30 minutes. Floating to other facilities or duties is rare but may occur. The dress code is provided by the facility. Nurses will undergo several shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor.
