Research Engineer - Hardware & Software Design

Salary: $68,736 - 84,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline, plus two years of experience designing hardware and software.
• We will also consider relevant experience with robotics, data acquisition, and other engineered systems.
• We look for experience in instrumentation, electronics, engineering principles, and software development.
• Preferred qualifications include CAD drafting, 3D printing, numerical methods, and data analysis.
• Experience in a research environment is preferred.

• We design fluidics hardware and analytical instrumentation using CAD tools and fabrication methods such as 3D printing.
• We build, test, and refine gas control systems, autoinjectors, and gas/liquid equilibration systems integrated with flow and static culture platforms and other analytical setups.
• We develop software for computer control and automation of fluidics systems, including user interfaces and data processing tools.
• We automate time-dependent autoinjectors, multi-mass-flow-controller gas composition, and liquid flow regulation through variable resistance valves.
• We test and optimize devices to precisely control dissolved gas composition with tissue samples while confirming tissue viability and function.
• We process, graph, and report data, and document methods for manuscripts and grant applications.
