Radiology Multi-Modality Technologist

Schedule: VariesShift: 9a-930pLocation: Crystal Lake HospitalESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintains active status in the modalities in which they practice.Assists the department coordinator by providing clinical leadership, completes projects, advanced level clinical duties and regular assignments as requested.Is competent in all exams performed within the assigned modalities.Corroborates patient clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist.Prepares the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort; immobilizes patient as necessary.Practices aseptic technique as necessary,Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed; starts and maintains intravenous access.Initiates basic life support action when necessary.Provides patient education.Provides input for supply and equipment decisions, maintains control of inventory and supplies for assigned area.Provides practical instruction for students and partners.Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.Other duties, tasks as assigned.CULTURE OF EXCELLENCE BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONSTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following behavior expectations:Quality - Follows policies and procedures; adapts to and manages changes in the environment; Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness giving attention to details; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Manages time and prioritizes effectively to achieve organizational goals.Service - Responds promptly to requests for service and assistance; Follows the Mercyhealth Critical Moments of service; Meets commitments; Abides by MH confidentiality and security agreement; Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; and effectively communicates information to partners; Thinks system wide regarding processes and functions.Partnering - Shows commitment to the Mission of Mercyhealth and Culture of Excellence through all words and actions; Exhibits objectivity and openness to other's views; Demonstrates a high level of participation and engagement in day-to-day work; Gives and welcomes feedback; Generates suggestions for improving work: Embraces teamwork, supports and encourages positive change while giving value to individuals.Cost - Conserves organization resources; Understands fiscal responsibility; Works within approved budget; Develops and implements cost saving measures; contributes to profits and revenue.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited radiography programTwo to four years of experience as a technologist as a Radiographer is required. Experience in a hospital environment preferredCERTIFICATION/LICENSUREARRT registered in Radiography required; the CT credential is required within a year of hireIEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in IllinoisWI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin BLS/CPR required within 90 days of hireADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSPassing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESExperience in working with radiologic technologists, radiologists and support staff in a multimodality departmentProficiency in mentoring employees and providing corrective action appropriatelyExperience in obtaining departmental accreditationAbility to communicate in a friendly and effective mannerDemonstrated ability to foster excellent teamwork in a radiology departmentStrong organizational skills with ability to work independentlyRead/comprehend written and verbal instructionsBasic PC skillsManage stress appropriatelyMake decisions under pressure and handle multiple prioritiesManage anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriatelyWORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and risk of radiation.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Occupational Exposure: Category A - All partners in the specified job classification have occupational exposure.INFORMATION ACCESSPartner may access patient care information needed to perform their job duties.WORK CONTACT GROUPPartners, physicians, patients/family, visitors, vendorsSPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Function of the position with or without accommodations.While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
