INVESTIGATOR - UNCLASSIFIED

Job Summary

Preference may be given to candidates that have a law enforcement background - specific to criminal defense - but will accept prosecution or law enforcement experience, are self-motivated, possess conflict resolution skills, comprehend legal documents, able to communicate with people of diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, analytical - identify discrepancies in witness statements & analyze reports to determine investigative leads, independent thinking, and bilingual in English and Spanish.

Essential Qualifications

Proficiency in criminal law, investigative principles and evidence collection methods, and courtroom procedures, interviewing techniques, general law enforcement principles and practices. Minimum two (2) years of Law Enforcement/criminal investigative work. Valid driver's license, as the job requires traveling to various locations for investigative needs. Proficiency in computers, including word processing, case management systems, and investigative databases.

Job Duties

Daily tasks may include reviewing case files, evidence, transcripts, and other case related materials. Assisting attorneys in developing defense strategies, interviewing defendants and witnesses. Assessing crime scenes, disputed property, and other potentially related locations. Pursing leads, locating witnesses, relatives, gathering information and documents. Supporting attorneys in court - up to and including testifying. Liaises with law enforcement agencies and prosecution. Other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job.
