Program Coordinator
CORE Districts
- Location: California, hybrid
- Travel: Occasional on-site travel to events required
- Type: Part-Time (30 hours per week), non-exempt
- Experience: Mid-level
About CORE Districts
CORE Districts is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising student achievement through collaboration among nine California school districts. Our work focuses on strengthening the collective efficacy in school systems and improving outcomes for students, especially those students that have been traditionally underserved. CORE is in an exciting phase of program growth and development, and we are seeking a Program Coordinator to support our work.
Position Overview
The Program Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager for School Networks. This role provides coordination, event, communications, and logistical support for our School Networks: Breakthrough Success Community (BTSC), CORE Schools, the CORE Board Community of Practice (CoP) and the Data Collaborative.
The ideal candidate is passionate about CORE's mission and has event and program coordination experience, along with strong organizational and communication skills. This person is comfortable managing multiple priorities, anticipating next steps, and moving fluidly between independent work and close collaboration with colleagues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Program Coordinator’s duties and tasks will include, but are not limited to:
Event and Meeting Coordination
- Coordinate logistics and support for in-person and virtual events, school visits, and other network activities.
- Proactively manage event planning including scheduling, registration, participant communications, materials, catering, travel-related coordination, and on-site support as needed.
- Provide on-site support at events and meetings as needed.
- Develop and maintain event timelines, checklists, and participant lists to keep planning on track.
Program Support
- Support the Senior Program Manager in coordinating activities, timelines, and deliverables across multiple workstreams.
- Track tasks, deadlines, and follow-up items and help ensure commitments are completed on time.
- Organize and maintain shared documents, resources, contact lists, and project files.
- Serve as a coordination point between CORE staff, district partners, vendors, and other collaborators to keep work moving across the School Networks portfolio.
- Execute day-to-day tasks and functions within CORE’s CRM system.
- Provide other project coordination and administrative support as needed.
Communications Support
- Draft and send clear, professional participant communications, including invitations, reminders, logistical information, and follow-up messages.
- Support the preparation and distribution of meeting materials, resources and newsletters.
- Ensure communications and materials are accurate, timely, and well organized.
Key Skills and Dispositions
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines independently and follow through on commitments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Sound judgment, with the ability to identify potential problems and take initiative to resolve them proactively and escalate as appropriate.
- Quick learner, comfortable adapting to new technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Three years of experience coordinating meetings, events, projects, or programs.
- Experience using a CRM system preferred.
- Experience in education or nonprofit settings is a plus, but not required.
CORE is committed to maximizing the diversity of the organization by working to recruit a team that reflects the diverse student populations it serves.
Equal Opportunity Employment
As an equal opportunity employer, CORE recruits and hires with a commitment to understand systemic oppression and the lived reality of people with marginalized identities. We strongly encourage and seek applications from people of color, including bilingual and multicultural individuals, as well as members of the LGBTQ+ communities. We also recruit and hire without regard to race, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, marital status, veteran status or age.
Compensation
CORE Districts is a non-profit organization. We will offer a firm and highly competitive starting salary of $31.25 per hour for this position. This position is subject to an annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), an opportunity for a year-end bonus, and career progression opportunities. CORE is committed to equity, and we do not engage in starting salary negotiations. We have found that salary negotiations have the potential to create equity gaps between equally qualified and experienced employees based solely on negotiation skills. We are committed to ensuring that all of our employees start off with fair and highly competitive salaries.
Employees at CORE enjoy a generous total compensation package. Employees who work 30 hours or more per week enjoy health benefits with an employer contribution, a quarterly health reimbursement program for out-of-pocket medical expenses, a 401k retirement plan with a 4% employer match, paid family medical leave, a flexible PTO policy, a monthly cell-phone reimbursement program, and a professional development allowance. Some benefits, including the professional development allowance and quarterly health reimbursement program, are prorated for employees who work less than 40 hours per week; specific details will be shared upon hire. Please note that benefits are subject to change each year. We strive to make improvements to our benefits offerings on a regular basis.
The organization provides all employees with a company laptop and other accessories upon hire.
Organization
CORE Districts is a 501c3 nonprofit collaborative serving as a hub to school districts working together to improve student achievement through highly productive, meaningful partnership and shared learning at the superintendent, central office, school and educator levels. Currently, nine school districts serving more than 1 million students participate in the collaborative: Fresno, Garden Grove, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Ana Unified, and San Jose Unified. Together, our districts share a fundamental belief that all students can achieve at high levels. Powered by data, innovation, research, and continuous learning, the nine CORE districts are collaborating to solve inequities in our education systems to ensure that every student has what they need to thrive. As an organization, CORE exists to operationalize the multidistrict collaboration and seeks to be a catalyst for change, powered by continuous improvement.
CORE believes that if it can support the improvement of specific outcomes by developing continuous improvement structures, mindsets and routines that foster learning at both the district and site levels, then districts and schools will make progress toward producing more reliable, equitable outcomes for their students.
