Personal Financial Counselor; USNR San Diego

Position Summary This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. The counselor delivers a full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referral resources. The counselor works closely with installation and branch points of contact to ensure the program meets installation needs. Responsibilities Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families. Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences. Develop and make available informational financial materials. Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle. Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars. Effectively utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes. Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues. Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree with 4 years’ experience or high school diploma with 6 years’ experience may be considered. 3+ years of financial counseling experience. Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract. Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation. Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for OCI process. Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). Education and Certifications Required: AFC, CFP, or ChFC. Preferred: None specified. Salary and Benefits Salary minimum: $58,440. Salary maximum: $93,500. Salary may vary by location and experience. The position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
