Operations Manager

Position Summary The Operations Manager directs daily warehouse activities, including labor scheduling, supervision, and optimal use of space, equipment, and manpower. The role covers receiving, picking/shipping or pick‑and‑pack operations, rotating through these areas as needed. Responsibilities include staffing, warehouse operation, facility and equipment maintenance, safety/security/housekeeping programs, and delivering excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities Staffing and labor management in the warehouse. Supervising and scheduling personnel. Maintaining facility and equipment. Implementing safety, security, and housekeeping programs. Ensuring customer service excellence. Coordinating with traffic, wave planners, replenishment analysts, inventory, IT, and other operational teams. Providing daily/weekly status updates to management and following up on distribution needs. Managing vendor and transportation relationships. Specific Job Functions Operations Develop and direct programs to ensure efficient, cost‑effective facility utilization. Plan and schedule distribution services: receiving, storing, order picking, order preparation, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, maintenance, and administrative activities. Plan long‑range labor needs based on forecasts. Recommend and implement process improvements. Communications Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly warehouse meetings. Interact with senior management to set goals and objectives. Coordinate with traffic, account management, replenishment analysts, inventory control, order processing, wave planners, and HR. Ensure consistency of execution, service standards, and productivity goals. Layout Ensure 100% execution of the WMS system to maintain data integrity for business planning and inventory management. Labor Management Direct supervisory personnel to meet productivity standards. Implement new initiatives, process improvements, and automation. Plan temporary manpower and hire qualified personnel. Apply effective communication and motivational techniques in supervision. Implement performance evaluation for promotions, wage adjustments, and terminations. Equipment Ensure efficient operation and utilization of warehouse equipment. Monitor equipment cleanliness and functionality. Adjust equipment quantity and type to meet business needs. Collaborate with Maintenance Technician to develop and implement a maintenance program. Safety Develop, implement, and direct safety programs to protect all personnel and equipment.
