Position Summary

Blue Moon Metals is seeking a safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to join the Projects team at the Springer Mine & Milling Complex. The Heavy Equipment Operator safely and efficiently operates mobile and heavy equipment used in underground and surface mining activities, including loading, hauling, material handling, road maintenance, and mine support.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sound equipment operating skills, strong situational awareness, and a commitment to safety, productivity, equipment care, and teamwork.

Essential Responsibilities

• Safely operate assigned heavy mobile equipment, which may include haul trucks, loaders, LHDs/scooptrams, forklifts, graders, dozers, excavators, and other mine-support equipment.
• Perform loading, hauling, dumping, stockpiling, material handling, road maintenance, and other tasks as directed by leader.
• Follow mine plans, operating procedures, manufacturer recommendations, traffic-control requirements, and applicable MSHA regulations.
• Conduct thorough pre-operational inspections and immediately report equipment defects, damage, leaks, or unsafe conditions.
• Monitor ground conditions, equipment operating limits, traffic, pedestrians, and other hazards while operating equipment.
• Perform routine operator maintenance and checks, including fluids, tires/tracks, brakes, lights, alarms, and attachments.
• Properly secure, park, and maintain assigned equipment and work areas.
• Communicate equipment issues, hazards, changing conditions, and operational concerns to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
• Maintain effective radio communication and work cooperatively with Operations, Maintenance, Health and Safety, and other site personnel.
• Participate in safety meetings, training, inspections, emergency response activities, and other site initiatives.
• Follow all company safety, environmental, and operational procedures and maintain required PPE.
• Perform additional duties and operate other equipment as trained and qualified.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment in underground mining, surface mining, construction, aggregate, or a similar industrial environment preferred.
• Demonstrated experience operating one or more types of heavy mobile equipment.
• Underground mining experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to safely operate equipment in confined spaces and changing ground and operating conditions.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and safety procedures.
• Strong communication, teamwork, reliability, and situational-awareness skills.
• MSHA Part 48 training or previous mining experience preferred; required training will be provided as applicable.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to work underground and/or in a mining environment for extended periods.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
• Ability to climb into and out of heavy equipment and perform routine walking, standing, bending, reaching, and climbing.
• Ability to work in environments involving dust, noise, vibration, variable temperatures, and other mining conditions.
• Ability to wear all required PPE and maintain the alertness and situational awareness necessary to safely operate heavy equipment.
