Position Overview United Health Services (UHS) Chenango Memorial Hospital is actively seeking a skilled and dedicated LPN/OR Tech to join our dynamic surgical team. In this vital role, you will play a crucial part in delivering safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care within our fast‑paced operating room environment. Sign‑on Incentive: Experienced candidates may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus of up to $7,500. Early candidates may qualify for up to $12,500 in tuition forgiveness. Work Schedule 40‑hour work week 10‑hour days On‑call shifts to provide 24/7 coverage, including weekends and holidays Education/Experience Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing (minimum required) Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting (preferred) Previous Operating Room experience (preferred) License/Certification Current New York State Practical Nurse License (minimum required) CPR Certification required within 3 months of hire Job Responsibilities Follows Infection Control policies and demonstrates expertise in surgical scrub technique. Adheres to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra‑operatively. Assists the surgeon when needed: gowning, gloving, draping, and passing of instruments and other related items during the procedure. Anticipates the surgeon’s need for instruments, sutures, and equipment. Maintains an organized operative field at all times by keeping the instruments clean and in their proper place. Keeps an accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument count. Prepares for cases by assembling supplies and equipment in accordance with preference cards and identifies conflicts or problems. Cares appropriately for instruments and supplies after each case. Provides a safe surgical environment for the patient, identifying potential hazards to the surgeon, RN, and assisting RN circulator in preoperative checks of equipment. Displays knowledge of potential hazards (equipment, chemical, or gases) within the Operating Room. Utilizes experienced OR staff as a resource, and acts as a resource for new OR personnel. Assists in suturing, retracting, suctioning under direction of the surgeon. Handles and identifies specimens per policy. Expedites the effective and efficient turnover of the OR between cases. Takes rotating call duty. Work Environment Work is performed in an office environment that requires working in proximity to other employees and patients. The office is air‑conditioned as well as heated. Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants. Fast‑paced environment including frequent interruptions. PPE: Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, Gloves per UHS Infection Control and CDC guidelines when appropriate.
