Peer Recovery Specialist Job Title: Peer Recovery Specialist Department: CHES INT BEHAV HEALTHC Division: CIBH MENTAL HLTH SVC Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours per week, Overnight Shift 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m. (Tuesday–Saturday) with specialty assignment and shift differential pay offered. Location: 216 Great Bridge Blvd, Chesapeake, VA Responsibilities Provide peer support and recovery‑focused services to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises. Use lived experience to foster hope, engagement, and meaningful connections. Work collaboratively with clinicians, nurses, case managers, and other team members to support individuals in crisis. Support individuals in connecting with community resources and recovery supports following crisis stabilization. Coordinate transportation as needed for individuals from the hospital emergency department to their apartment, home, or other residential settings to support resolution of a behavioral health crisis. Document services in the client electronic health record. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Associate’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one year of related full‑time equivalent experience. Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health Developmental Services (DBHDS) within one year of hire. Preferred Qualifications None listed. Compensation Base salary: $38,579 – $57,386 per year, commensurate with education, experience, and credentials. A 10% special assignment and 7% shift differential are offered.
