CNC Machinist Trainee

Gain experience in a safe production environment running CNC related equipment while completing a two-year degree in a Machine Tool Technology program. This specific role is for the development of future CNC Machinists. Upon completion of the two-year Machine Tool Technology degree, incumbents in this role will be promoted to a CNC Machinist C role on an open shift.


What You Will Do at Graco

• Safely run and maintain production on a variety of machining equipment.
• Remove excess material to ensure trouble free and safe operation of machine parts to use in fluid handling products.
• Consistently meet Graco's expectations in a timely manner for accuracy of work while minimizing waste by maintaining high quality for the product, equipment and facility.
• Using blueprints and/or work instructions, process parts to specific Graco standards and tolerances.
• Constantly monitor the production process and report any possible product enhancements or safety issues.
• Meet or exceed departmental goals of efficiency and productivity through collaborative employee involvement.
• Maintain the safest possible work environment for self and others.
• Use all applicable software to input information relative to quality and quantity of parts produced.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring to Graco

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current or imminent enrollment in a two year Machine Tool Technology program.
• Employee must maintain good standing with the school while enrolled and maintain a C average or better.

• Shift is flexible & can be changed to accommodate current courses/schedule; work hours expectation is 80% full time employment or more. (32 hours minimum)

Note: A completed 2-year degree in machining or machine technology is required to be promoted to a CNC Machinist C (transcript is required).

Accelerators

• Within six months of start date, individuals must demonstrate:
  • The ability to safely run and maintain operation of assigned CNC machining equipment consisting of mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • The ability to work from detailed instructions with limited supervision.
  • The ability to use a variety of precision measuring instruments.
• Must understand safety rules and regulations to prevent unsafe set-ups, runs and/or acts which may cause injury to self, others or the work environment.
• Have to be willing to accept an off-shift or weekend position upon completion of Machine Tool Technology degree.

• In terms of an 8-hour workday, "occasionally" means 1 to 33%, "frequently" means 34 to 66% of the time, and "continuous" means 67 to 100% of the time.
• In an 8-hr workday, must be able to sit 1 hour, stand 3 hours, and walk 4 hours.
• Position requires frequent bending and stooping, occasional use of fixed or portable stairs, crouching and kneeling and reaching above the shoulder.
• Must occasionally lift and load up to 45 lbs or greater.
• Requires frequent repetitive elbow movements and simple grasping with both hands and occasional firm grasping and fine manipulation with both hands: (lifting, dexterity, coordination, mobility, etc).

The base pay range for this position is listed below, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation. If you are hired, your final base hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
